Improving rural schools and hospitals
What
Feedback Madagascar - Ny Tanintsika continues to support communities with infrastructure and better services, by continually seeking funds to repair / build and equip schools and health centres in remote rural areas.
Why
The majority of rural schools and health centres are ill-equipped and run-down, unable to cope with a growing demand for services. With government cuts to public service spending, there is a huge need for assistance to improve basic service infrastructure, especially in rural areas.
Results
A total of 17 primary schools and 6 health centres have benefited from improvements, including new buildings or infrastructure, repairs and equipment, enabling them to offer better services to the populations they serve. One isolated commune has benefited from the installation of a radio system to improve communication, whilst another has initiated a commune community rice store project to improve food security and lower malnutrition rates.
