What

Ever since the BESOM Foundation donated audio-visual equipment and a 4x4 to Feedback, the Cinemobile project has been operating in remote villages around the Fianarantsoa region. This focuses on awareness-raising and discussion about health and environment - related issues through the creation of films and rural cinema showings, animated by our fieldstaff.

Why

Due to their novelty factor in remote rural areas without electricity or many distractions, educational video showings attract huge crowds and have proven to be highly effective at getting important messages across… whilst giving everyone a good time!

Results

Combined with animation from project staff and community educators, and often with quizzes and competitions, these video showings have been effective in raising awareness on all sorts of topics from family planning and vaccination to high-yielding rice-growing techniques and the effects of deforestation.
